Starwars: The Lightsaber

The Lightsaber is described as the ancient weapon of the Jedi (and Sith). Scientists estimate that its energy would be over a Million Joules. But why? The force has been about Balance in a universe where Jedi and Sith are opposing forces. It is not inconceivable to think the lightsaber is the essence of the ideal. Rather than generate over a million joules it merely uses the energy of an opponent against them. An Alloy wall has an energy that binds the universe together as much as a living opponent. It need only push the energy of the opponent into itself using the energy of the oponent against itself.
