So in CBS's copyright infringment lawsuit against the makers of the Startrek Axanar fan film they are claiming copyright on s selection of things including gold uniforms (kirk) and triangular medals. Except millitary tradition cant be patented or even copyright. CBS's claim to gold uniforms infact infringes on and is an appropriation of Indian Millitary Culture. Gold Uniforms were worn by commanding officers in the Indian Army.
India now has grounds to sue CBS into Bankruptcy (a trillion dollars should do it) and take Startrek. It would certainly set a precedent ending the use and appropriation of millitary culture by holywood.
Now that would be an interesting outcome.
