An incurable plague has swept the Known World wiping out millions of people. The world became isolated, and mistrustful. Ochaleans were blamed for deaths that came from the movement of the Merchants, Refugees, and Adventurers of a hundred other nations. Ships crowded with fleeing refugees became ships filled with corpses, and those who made it to safety were killed for escaping their fate.
The people of Ochalea died in isolation.
Tsu Zhang, an Astronomer from the Island of Ochalea, could only watch from distant Ylaruam as his people perished while Ylaruam survived simply because most of the infected perished in the heat of a desert crossing. While the plague didnt reach Ylaruam, blame for the plague directed at Ochaleans did reach the city of Ylaruam. Until even Tsu Zhang was greeted openly with hostility in the streets and market places.
His heart broken, something dark began to fester there. A hatred for those Ylari around him. They should share his pain. So he sets about a plan. This night he will use his Artefact of the immortals- the Mirror-lens of Zhang-Chi to bring destruction from his Astronomer's tower down on the people of this decadent city of silk and perfume.
It is the end of Kladmont, the last day in the last month of the year AC1021. And for PCs in Ylaruam, it is the night the Moon becomes abnormally bright, and reaches down into the slumbering city with its tentacles.
