Old School: An ugly encounter with Shelobspawn

Apparently Hobbit D&D is experiencing some interest...so here is a cave dwelling horror to mess your PCs up.

--------------

Shelobspawn: 5-10HD****; AC0; MV 30' (10'); 5 Claws/ 1 Bite+ poison/charm person/fear; 1d6/1d6/1d6/1d6/1d6/1d12+special; NA 1(0); SA Fighter L5-10; ML 11; AL Chaotic; 675xp-4,000xp

One of the descendants of shelob. Since shelob is unique and must mate with lesser spiders to produce offspring, shelobspawn do not have nearly the terror that shelob herself must have. Varying in size, Shelobspawn have spider-like bodies, eight legs, each tipped with a hideous claw, (a maximum of five claws can be used at any one time leaving three to stand on)
, a thin, short, rubbery neck, a large hairy head with multifaceted eyes, and a large well teethed mouth. If a character is bitten, he automatically secumbs to the shelobspawns poison, and goes into a coma 1-4 rounds after bitten (no save). A person in such a coma comes out of it in 4 turns. Shelobspawn have the ability to weave nets that may only be cut by a sword of fire, or a holy sword, or at the GMs option, an elvish Mithril Sword.
A shelobspawn will attempt to poison one person, then drive off the others. She'll then wrap that person in a binding of webbing then hang him on her web 'for later'. At some point she'll suck all his blood out, and throw the empty carcass away. Shelobspawn are almost invariably found in their lair. They are never found more than one at a time, and never have treasure. However their victims may have had treasure and thus it is quite likely that large amounts of treasure will be found lying around their web. They will not consort with other creatures and will eat anything they can. They will attack in this order of preference: men, hobbits, goblins, kobolds, dwarves, elves, orcs, trolls. This is because man-flesh is much more appealing than say orc-flesh. They are highly magic resistant, and are able to cast a fear spell and a charm person spell once per day.
