Those three races would have been interesting classes, even as something in the promised Companion Addendum. What do we have? A Gnome, a Vampire? and a Faun? Even as an other-planar race it might have been interesting.
Faun wasn't even a monster in D&D Basic/Expert.
The idea of half-race classes creeping into D&D Basic/Expert might have opened it up long before the exotic character races of modern editions,
Update: found a article in Dragon Magazine issue 109 by Frank Mentzer. As a Female born of Satyr she qualifies as a Dryad, I guess she can adventure until her fighter class reaches Fighter L4 & 2HD? Lets say Dryad are HD 1d4 fighters like Halflings. That means 2d8HD, and 4th level fighter Saving throws is viable.
Give her the Charm Person ability (as M-U spell) and maybe her companions are a little more enticed than usual. At 4th level the Dryad must merge with a Tree, but until then she is free to adventure...
