Quick Adventure: A Poor Harvest

Winkelvoss's Tavern
The villagers huddled in the local tavern seem sullen and sombre until you have settled to your seat, every eye on you as you entered.
"We have guests, so enough of moping about poor rainfall." The Barkeep stands and points at you. "Its tradition that new folk must drink their fill."

"The last man standing not only gets his drinks for free," He fills several huge tankards from a barrel with a tap and places the tankards of ale in front of you. "He gets to be Hero of the First Harvest."

"Now..." He smiles at you and its obvious that you are not leaving this tavern sobre. "Drink up."

Hero of the First Harvest drinking competition
Anyone drinking a tankard must saves vs poison or fall unconcious from the alcohol. Each tankard consumed incurs a -1 penalty to the saving throw.

The last PC still awake earns cheers from the entire tavern.
The Barkeep grabs you by the shoulder as you struggle to remain awake and laughingly says: "Well Done hero." He then nods to someone behind you who clubs you into unconciousness.

The Hero of the First Harvest Festival
The champion of the previous night's drinking competition awakens outside. You are in the middle of a grain field near a large stone of several tons to which you are chained naked at the ankles. Close up the wheat looks sickly. The chain is short meaning you are unable to do little more than stand your ground.

You hear a noise and notice a short halfing-sized skeleton in a ragged black cloak carrying a broken scythe approaching through the crop.

Harvest-master: 1HD*; AC6 (cloak of protection+3); MV 90' (30'); AT: Scythe; DA 1d10; SA Fighter L1; NA 1(unique); ML 12; TT special; 10xp

Oh but for a weapon
The only weapon in range is a fist sized rock that can be used as a club (1d6). The rock is noticed on a 4 in 6. The PC doesnt get any dexterity bonus to AC because of the short chains.

If the Harvest master claims his harvest, the grain crop of the village improves and it is a good harvest, but if the harvest master is slain, the crops will die and the village descends into famine.

The rest of the party
The rest of the party are bound and gagged in a cellar beneath the Tavern. If the hero kills the harvest master and the rest of the party are unable to free themselves to rescue the hero, the villagers return intent on killing them and turning them into food.
If the harvest master is successful in harvesting their companion the happy villagers turn the surviving PCs loose to be on their way.

(40) Villagers: 1st level halfling; neutral; 4hp; AC 9; club(1d6).
