Dungeon Mastery: Lootboxes

A regular grift in computer games is the Lootbox. So its okay to add them to your D&D game.

Box of Water

This box opens to reveal water. Not in any bottels or waterskins, but rather just five gallons (twenty litres) inconveniently loose in a box. If the characters have empty waterskins or magical containers they can collect most if not all of the contents. The box itself will not degrade though its contents will spill if they fall over while carrying it.

Box of Books

This box contains a collection of fictional tales that reveals itself to be from another world. Within are a series of fictional adventures about a young peasant boy who inherits a scholarship to a School of Magic from his deceased parents. The seven volumes detail his adventures during and away from school, and various friendships and animosities that develop. Within the pages are various magical sounding phrases that any magic-user will tell the reader are not magical in the slightest.

Box of Chocolates

This box contains various confectionary, both bitter and dark, though some apparently contain alcohol and soft jellies while others are crunchy nuts. A few in moderation might tide you over nutritionally as iron rations, though eating them all in a single day will result in constipation and bowel solidification and death within 2-5 days.
