Proof the BBEG is way Smarter
On your return trip to Earth you encounter a giant spaceship that has, having impacted with Earth, been using its singularity drive to back slowly out of the certainty of the event horizon of the black hole where your Solar System used to be.
The BBEG is in the right is the only valid conclusion from the PCs, yet they decide to destroy the giant ship, and fly into a black hole because they somehow know better. Plus religious worldview is fulfilled.
