The Mountain Dwarves of Sa-Marin
They belong to the U linguistic group which is in all its uniqueness, the same linguistic group the Sumerian dictionary belongs to. So no need for Norse Dwarves in your Roleplay game. These ones can be Sumerians. They likely scribe their writings on clay tablets and get around bare chested with white kilts. But the development trends will determine actual history.

A History of the Mountain Dwarves of Sa-Marin
38% A minor part of the U-A linguistic group; the beginnings of language development.
27% beginnings of forge-craft.
21% they live somewhere.
18% Cultivation underway when an enemy (the Ruk) or Sworn-Enemy (the Kur-ruk) are encountered.
14% they refer to themselves as Kaz (Dwarf). A Dwarf-Axe is a Kaz-zak. The Male in Kaz culture is absolute. Dwarf fathers beget their offspring.
12% Kad-dum (Stone-Excavation), Iron, Gold and Silver, a Fight?
10% A memory: fear of something Fierce and Terrible. the corageous fight. They Escape.
9% They build a Fortress of Oak (Zog-gun), working as cutters in the oak forest in the land of Buk.
7% they find safety and a sense of self growing fat.
3% they conquer the high place of Sar, encounter unknown magic, Build homes, and scribe the history and tales of their people in a cultural document called the Pan.
1% Respect for other peoples posessions including recognition of females evolves (a legal code).

For comparison here we have the Sumerians. They have a nice clean dev. Chain for the first five letters just like the Dwarves so we can now take the Sumerian dictionary and padd out the Dwarven language as a Dialect Variation.

EARLY HISTORY OF THE RNRUKN
63% They dominate the U-A linguistic group; They discover water.

38% The female Rnrukn using horses overthrow male rule. The male Dwarves (the Kaz) depart using the A-RU [Water-Vertical] Well to exit. Those that remain dismantle the water-vertical timbers and sprinkle the wood of the A-RU about and head for the Urn.

29% They are now a Matriarchy ruled by Ukkuk (the Mother) They begin to experience a daily water shortage is experienced.  Urkn (he who shows the way) reveals where Dwarf males and water can be found. (This betrayal remains unknown to the Aru). The Horse-Women come into conflict with the Kaz over Water.

A-RU
A-RU is a strange yellow timber artefact of an ancient age made of interlocking yellow timber sections which artistically resemble a Sun. It allows travellers to pass through a whirlpool-like Gateway (wormhole) when activated.

So the Dwarves fled and build a Fortress in an Oak forest in the Land of Buk... and if you dont know what a neolithic fortress of oak looks like, it will probably look like the Humbleton Hill site in Britain which thanks to archaeological excavations consists of a fortress and funeral site built from ten thousand oak timbers.
