Evolution of shogi by linguistic development
- The earliest battlefield appearing at 40% is the king, gold general, and three chariot pieces (flying chariot, incense chariot, and promoted incense chariot).
- At 33% we get the addition of the dragon (promoted flying chariot).
- At 26% we see the introduction of the jeweled king (a specific historical opponent), Bishop (angle mover), silver general, and promoted silver general. The Shogi name is applied.
- After that, more pieces (horse units) are added to the game at 13% - the promoted bishop (dragon horse), cassia horse, and promoted cassia.
- And then at 6% pawns (foot soldier), and promoted pawns are added along with the elephant (which is removed). The Game board (Ban) is named.
The man, and the pedestal. Or if you like the champion and the chariot because chariots have two wheels in contact with the ground the pedestal should be sideways.
Champions & Chariots
If Senat and protoshogi originate as a Champions & Chariots battlefield, It becomes a supply and battlefield game.
Each player should originally have two champions and three chariots each(protoshogi) to five champions and five chariots each (protoSenat).
Chariots are required to move champions or heroes to the battlefield. An undefended/returning chariot is vulnerable to capture by an incoming chariot with champion or the champion and chariot can capture an incoming chariot. Likewise a resting champion on a chariot can be ambushed by an incoming champion on a chariot.
Turn: You roll a dice, move the pedestaled chariot unit with champion up to the battlefield. Return chariot from the battlefield.
