Linguistic Archaeology: I fed the phaistos disk to an AI

I fed the phaistos disk pictograms to an online AI that continues writing the shortfiction... and got new pictograms: 

𐇻𐇦𐇠𐇡𐇪𐇽 𐇪𐇲𐇨𐇧𐇩 𐇬𐇗𐇜 𐇓𐇓𐇞𐇰 𐇨𐇪𐇨𐇧𐇰𐇡𐇬𐇚. 

It then jumped to text and described a man high above a city looking on as gathered women sat bent over working in a workshop. 

Yes I know cutting and pasting the english text of the new fiction would have been awesome... but I didnt. 

Anyway the described scene was accurate for the period and the location. 

 AI seems like it will one day translate the untranslatable, but I still have doubts about its capacity to adhere to the specific existing dataset.

Mystaran Campaign: The Tomb of K-Kes

The Tomb of K-Kes is at the surface a stone wheel door of several tons guarded by 2-8 Orcs.

1. The Door to the tomb is several tons. If the PCs can negotiate with the Orcs they will help move the door aside to reveal the tunnel.

Anyone reaching through the hole in the centre of the door will be bitten by a giant black widow spider which retreats down the tunnel if the door is opened.

On the wall are charcoal drawn hieroglyphs K-Kes. A read language reveals this much. It means cover the head and neck and bow down. Doing this  ritual protects the PC from the curse on the tomb- spiders on the ceiling.

2. The tunnel is 10ft high and wide, sloping downward. The Black Widow spider retreats to this location attacking from above in the dark.

3. The Tomb Hallway has a 15ft high ceiling. There are three bricked up chambers off this room these doors are further concealed by plaster across the walls. Anyone running their hands over the walls searching for secret or concealed doors encounters a poisoned needle trap embeded in the plaster and must save vs poison. Artwork is painted on the plastered walls and ceilings.

4. Chamber of Unem-Kha. Dominated by a stone box with a five ton stone lid. This prince is entombed with a holy symbol of Horus (500gp) wrapped up under bandages used to bind his remains as a mummy. Also in the bandages is a poisonous shell-fish fragment (save vs poison).

5. Chamber of Khan-Kha. As the other chambers it is dominated by a stone coffin with five tin lid.  This prince Skinned alive, his hide used to make a cleric scroll of Greater Reincarnation capable of reincarnating this prince. The caster must wear the holy symbol of Horus and recite: Amakh-M-Ur, shesp-men-shen-aau (eye of horus - give - Prince Ur - recieve - offer - eternal - worship). this means the cleric offers to convert to worship of Horus in payment for reincarnation of Prince Ur.

6. Chamber of Beh-Shep. This chamber has a mummy in the stone coffin which bites causing a necrotic rotting disease unless the victim converts to Horus Worship.

The priest of horus must touch the holy symbol of Horus to the convert's cheek and recite Amakh-shesep-men-aau. This brands the convert with the eye of Horus. Converts get ML+1.

Dungeon Mastery: Seriously, What the fuck?

Bad shit happens. One moment you are toppling the food carts of some peasant and smashing his ripe melon against the ground for failing to cough up his daily takings when blam! The god damn melon not only fails to shatter, it explodes as you reach for it causing you to be struck in the head by a fragment and stumble about stunned for two rounds.

Nkulmyr the Talkative: 3rd level Fighter; 11hp; Lawful; Str 14, Int 11, Wis 7, Dex 6, Con 14, Cha 10; Normal clothing, boots, belt, pouch.

Description: 5ft 2 inches tall with a physically solid build that makes him look like a tall dwarf Nkulmyr is a human fighter with a dark greying beard and a gruff personality. He has been a wandering story-teller for decades speaking gruffly in village taverns (and on rare occasions humanoid camps) across the known world though they are more local news than world shattering. He wears warm, dark clothing and boots, and is not above wearing a wooly blanket with holes cut for arms and just spending the night in the undergrowth.

Post Apocalyptic: A hundred years from now...

Predicting the future is difficult. What I can tell you with certainty is that with every civilization there is always an ongoing centralization of cultural development into the hands of fewer and fewer people as fewer and fewer are fully literate.
Full Literacy isnt just the capacity to read and write, its the ability to understand, communicate and contribute as an equal. That isnt just in verbal communication, or written words. Its the capacity to participate in cultural development, and the basic operation of civilization as a machine. Eventually these systems we rely on to serve us and keep us safe, protect us and keep us fed and warm at night will fail because there are not enough people fully literate enough to not only develop something better, or simply maintain what we have, but operate them.

You can take a small boulder and sit it in a log and turn that rock in a circle over and over until the rock cobs out a hollow forming a bowl. Or you can do that to a rock making a stone bowl, or a jade bowl, or a jar, or a cup. But that takes time and it qualifies as skilled labour.

And to feed that army of bowl makers, you need food to feed him or her, and you need blankets to keep them warm. And you need people who are skilled in food production and weaving to produce those things. And at some point you wind up with people in charge, who think they should be in charge of everyone for life and that job of being in charge should be passed to their offspring because they are possessed of the Mandate of God or are God.

As someone who knows God is a lie designed to disuade you from impaling that guy in charge and his offspring on a pointy pole just long enough for the guy in charge to surround himself with a skilled army loyal to getting a share of that power, so they have more pointy impaling poles than you do and can keep you slaving away making bowls for less blankets and less food, I can tell you it sucks when you are not regarded as equal and free.

And if the people in charge are not fully literate, then they are going to be as dangerous to that civilization thing you were happy to be a part of back at the beginning when it mattered. As dangerous as they are going to be to you.

So you accept less. Because now they can take that civilization from you. And they can take from you the next civilization you build when you decide to just up and leave.

So this time around you build a civilization and you all agree that everyone is equal, but you still find that making decisions for others pisses them off so you all suddenly need people with pointy sticks to keep each other from wanting to be in charge forever, but again those in charge become specialized in their work while you are off making bowls, food, and blankets. They stop almost everyone from getting their hands on pointy poles, particularly those who don't want people in charge. So again you wind up with people in charge who think they are worth more than the bowl makers, food growers, and blanket weavers.

So you accept less. And they are quite happy to hang out with the people who were in charge of the previous civilization because they see in each other an equality. They are all sure that they are more important than you.

You never know... maybe this time you can build a new civilization. The problem is obviously those in the group who think you need someone in charge, so lets leave them out this time. Growing food, and weaving a blanket can't be harder than cobbing a bowl.

Alien Fossils: Is there something inherently human in Alien?

It was awe inspiring to see this as a kid, but it left you with questions. Was that a cannon? Was he fighting a space battle?

After so many decades I suddenly realized who the alien is meant to be. He's an astronomer and that giant gun is his telescope. Its a crashed ship, so he locked his telescope on his distant homeworld. Its literally a map pointing to an inhabited world that was populated by (and may still be home to) sentient life other than humans.

Perhaps it provides us with a connection with future Alien species beyond the nuke it from orbit philosophy.
