Space Morons: The Starlost

Primary Protagonist Devan, a Menonite? From who decides he wants to marry outside the wishes of the dome Patriarch and God (the Computer). Facing death after discovering the voice of God is just the Patriarch recording his own words for computer playback, he escapes the dome and learns about the Ark.

You might be familiar with the Starlost. If you Play Metamorphosis Alpha you certainly enjoy its legacy. This scifi series from 71-72 is about humans on a collossal Ship called the Ark on an interstellar voyage. It is initially home to a few million humans - those selected to survive while the rest of humanity perishes. Those ethnosamples are confined to their own habitat domes. But a hundred years into the journey something happens and the ship drifts for another four hundred years, their Ark headed to its doom - on a collision course with an Orange G type star.

The Series was created by Cordwainer Bird. Significant to those who love Scifi, its a pen name used by Scifi Author Harlan Ellison.

We see Devan murder an AI, encounter a colony of men who procreate by cloning- the Governor of whom is the original Battlestar Galactica's Gaius Baltar. Walter Koenig puts in a few episodes as an Alien whose people intend to salvage the Ark for themselves. There is cryo storage of people who were injured when a Ship reactor blew, a community with neural-link brain chips to link the populace for greater efficiency - used for torture and punishment by the defacto ruling class. There are things here that parallel our modern world. It seems the ship was never built to save the best of humanity. Rather its populated by bleep! (You will get that joke if you watch the 16 episodes).
